Screen Shot 2017-04-26 at 11.36.31 AM.pngIn need of a fun time out without the kids? Head to the Dallas Farmers Market! Nestled in amongst the skyscrapers of downtown Dallas, the Market is host to a huge food hall and artisanal food vendor market. With an exciting array of food, there is no chance of leaving this market with an empty stomach. From Mexican, to seafood, to Italian, to Vietnamese, to Caribbean, to Cajun, there is no end to delicious food to try. One of my favorite things to do with my husband is go to interesting food vendors to try lots of new food!

Right near the Market, you will find The Shed where you can get fresh produce, eggs, honey, bread and meat from local farmers and vendors. Because doing the weekly grocery shop is not the most romantic date, you could consider going to the market to get fresh produce to bring home and cook a romantic dinner together. Fresh tomatoes would make the most delicious spaghetti bolognese!

Food is not the only thing you will find at the Dallas Farmers Market. It is also home to a variety of vendors that sell things such as candles, home decor, vintage items, photography, and artwork. Great for a shopping date!

Still haven’t captured your interest? Not only does the market provide delicious fresh produce, exotic food and exciting shops, there are constantly events happening at this exciting scene. One such event that is happening now is a free six-week fitness series. You and your spouse could attend as many of these as you want, they include yoga and pilates. Another event that would make any date great would be the live music at the Market.

The market is open 7 days a week from 10 AM to 6 PM, but on Fridays it remains open until 8 PM, so you could make it a day date or an evening date! (*The Shed is open Fridays, 10am-3pm; Saturdays, 9am-5pm; and Sundays, 10am-5pm)

Double Feature Drive-In

Drive-Ins offer a cool twist on the tradition dinner and a movie date. Coyote Drive-In is a local drive-in movie theater with a restaurant as well.  They offer the classic popcorn and candy as well as dinner foods like pizza, hamburgers, and hot dogs. The best thing about drive-ins is that one ticket gets you access to two movies! For $6 dollars you get access to two movies back to back.
If you have never been to a drive there are a few things different than a traditional movie theater. For example the movie audio will play through your car stereo by turning to the station the movie theater provides you with. You can come in any kind of car, but if you decide to go in a sedan than I would go early to get a good spot. In fact Coyote Drive-In recommends that you go 90 min before the show starts to get a good seat.
You can bring blankets, pillows camping chairs etc. Piling the blankets and pillows in the back of your minivan, truck or SUV can be cozy and romantic. Movie show times vary, but all start around sundown. Check the website for showtime’s and movie listing. Coyote Drive-in is a great place for a fun and relaxing date together!

Thank you Carlo's Bakery for the most amazing experience this baker has ever had!"
