Charlie's Burgers and Street Tacos

Last Thursday my husband and I went out for a much needed date night! We wanted to go somewhere close to home because I was exhausted! Being 18 weeks pregnant and needing to take care of all the kids and your husband (he just had elbow surgery) is exhausting! I think if we would have traveled more than 10 minutes I would have fallen asleep on the way!

We decided to try Charlie’s Burgers and Street Tacos, which is certainly becoming a local Rockwall favorite! Located in Downtown Rockwall it is a perfect location for Date Night. Charlie’s is closed on Mondays, but open from 4pm-10pm Tuesday-Thursday and opens for lunch Friday through Sunday (11:00am-10:00pm and closes at 9pm on Sundays).

As we arrived we were greeted by the friendly staff welcoming us to Charlie’s! Instantly we felt at home. We were sat and our waitress told us all about the specials of the day! We even got the opportunity to meet one of the owners, Wayne!

After looking over the menu we didn’t know what to order because everything sounded so good! So we decided to try a little of everything because that’s what you do when you are pregnant and can’t decide!

Chorizo Stuffed JalapeƱos
We started off the night with Chorizo Stuffed JalapeƱos. These were so amazing! And by me saying that it does not give them enough credit! We then moved on to a Charlie Burger, and a selection of tacos. We tried the pulled pork tacos, the Adobe rubbed steak tacos, the smoked brisket taco, and the special of the day: the mahi-mahi fried tacos! (Rumor has it these will soon be a staple on the menu) I sure hope so because I can’t wait to go back and eat them! We also had the grilled Baby Wedge Salad as well as the French Fries. All the food at Charlie’s is served a la carte, which is perfect because it allows you to try a variety of different things!

Mahi-Mahi Tacos

My husband and I both agree that the tacos were some of the best ones we have ever had! You can tell that they hand roll their tortillas daily! Favorites being: the mahi-mahi tacos, the pulled pork as well as the brisket, but with that being said they all were great and we would be super excited to go back and eat all of them again.

Grilled Baby Wedge
The burger was moist and delicious. They grind their meat daily in the restaurant for these burgers. I have never had a burger quite like that one before. When I am craving a burger this will definitely be where I go! Let’s pray it’s not a Monday when this happens!

If you are feeling like a salad, the grilled baby wedge is very filling and equally delicious! If this is your first time at Charlie’s be sure to try a taco with it as well because they are that good!

Since it was Thursday it was live music night! We got to listen to a great one-man band play as we finished up our meal. By the time we left people were waiting for a table on a Thursday night! Charlie’s is clean, family friendly, laid back, and a great location for your next date night! If you don’t live in Rockwall it is certainly worth the trip! Charlie’s has specials many nights of the week so follow them on Facebook so you can know the latest happenings at Charlie’s!  Charlie’s is coming up on their one year anniversary! With how great their food is and the service I have no doubt that we will be celebrating many more anniversaries with this great restaurant! Go give them a try, let me know what you think!
